Contract/Hours: Permanent/Full Time - 37 hours per week

A bit about the role

As a Team Leader, your role involves coordinating case management for our young people. You'll lead the team in demonstrating a high standard of person-centred practice, you'll serve as a strong role model for the staff team.

Our Team Leader will support management to create and maintain a safe and supportive environment for our young people to grow and develop. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering person centred care, guidance and advocacy.

A bit about Acorn Way

Chesterfield Residential is Action for Children's newest 4 bedded residential care home providing accommodation to support children and young people up to the age of 18 years with both physical and learning disabilities.

We pride ourselves in providing a homely welcoming and fun environment in which young people feel safe and free to gain a sense of their own self. Your skills, passions and interests could help us to continue achieving this. Whether it's being a whizz on the PlayStation, creating origami animals or exploring nature you can inspire our children. You will also support by driving our children and young people to and from school to events, appointments, and family time.

You will build bonds with children and support them with day-to-day personal needs and promoting their independence. Leading your team to create a fun and nurturing environment.

How you'll help to create brighter futures:

We are seeking a Team Leader who is a passionate and experienced individual to support our team of residential staff and contribute to our mission of bringing lasting improvements to the lives of children and young people. You will support by:

  • Deputising in the managers absence.
  • Leading on case/care planning management for children and young people with team members
  • Carrying out regular auditing and reviews of young people's paperwork and packages of support, in conjunction with the children, young people, their families and professionals from their wider support network
  • Supervising, guiding, inducting, and training the staff team and volunteers where required.
  • Attending professional meetings including reviews, safeguarding conferences / court work, EHC planning meetings etc.
  • Carrying out the homes monitoring and auditing processes.
  • Liaising with stakeholders and a range of other professionals and by taking the lead in specific areas of the service such as compliance, health and safety and service monitoring.
  • Managing and leading a team of residential professionals and other staff as directed in the delivery of a 24-hour rota (including management of shifts).

What are we looking for from you:

  • Having a minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (in children and young people or equivalent) or willingness to acquire this. If you do not have this, we will put you through the qualification. It is a regulatory requirement to achieve this.
  • Having previous experience in a supervisory/management role so you can manage and lead a team of residential professionals and other staff alongside the Registered Manager and in the managers absence.
  • Having experience of managing safeguarding concerns.
  • Having experience in managing and prioritising work tasks and a commitment to going that extra mile.
