We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and skilful mathematician to join a cohesive and skilful team to cover a one-year career break for a member of the department. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the delivery of the A Level Mathematics curriculum and other curriculums within the department (Further Maths A Level, Core Maths and GCSE Maths retake).

Qualifications: Good degree in Mathematics or related subject together with a recognised teaching qualification.

Experience: Current or recent experience of teaching the Mathematics A Level syllabus or GCSE syllabus for 16–18-year-olds is desirable. The ability to teach (or upskill to teach) Further Maths or a second subject within the department is an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills: An excellent understanding of Mathematics and the ability to use information technology to support teaching and learning.

Personal Qualities: Excellent teamwork and communication skills, flexibility and effective organisation.

Motivation and Expectations: A commitment to high standards and an enthusiasm for teaching and supporting students.

A member of the thriving Science Faculty, Maths is taught in a suite of six rooms plus a small computer suite and workshop room with a staff of eight FTE. The Maths department is well resourced, and all teachers follow unified schemes of work, homework and assessment materials for all courses. Staff are encouraged and expected to share resources for teaching and assessment.

All teaching staff are also personal tutors. Tutors monitor progress and offer support and guidance to some 25 students. The ability to contribute to the enrichment programme would also be welcome.

Salary Range: On the SFCA salary scale £30,500 (Point 1) to £47,133 (Point 9).About Us

Results across our other qualification types are equally as strong. Approximately 70% of our offer is A Levels, with 25% comprising Level 3 vocational and technical qualifications and 5% comprising our Transition courses for students to bolster their Level 2 qualifications before progressing to Level 3. Alongside our academic, vocational and technical courses, we have a thriving enrichment programme, with over 130 activities available to all students, from sports to arts and crafts and music.
