Head of Legal and Deputy Monitoring Officer

Our client, a Local Authority in the South-East is seeking a Head of Legal and Deputy Monitoring Officer to join their Legal Services team on an interim basis, pending permanent recruitment.

This opportunity is to start from September, and would suit a candidate able to undertake this role on a full-time, hybrid basis.

Responsibilities of the Head of Legal:

  • Provide direction and leadership to the Legal Services team
  • Hold a complex caseload, to include Local Authority Governance
  • Directly line manage Principal Solicitors
  • Be the Deputy Monitoring Officer and deputise for the Director of Legal
  • Management of the Legal Services budget
  • Undertake corporate support functions; e. investigations and appeals
