Job Description Summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Risk and Insurance Manager for EMEA who will be responsible for the leadership and management of the insurance and risk management function in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Reporting to the companyâs global Vice President of Risk Management, this position partners with the regional business units and corporate functions to provide effective insurance and risk management support which aligns with Cushman & Wakefieldâs global insurance and risk management strategies. This position is responsible for identifying, managing, and minimizing risks to the company through active involvement in contract negotiations, claims management, corporate insurance program placement, and loss control initiatives.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage internal relationships with the business units, corporate functions, and senior executives to facilitate the identification, evaluation and understanding of risks across the company
  • Lead negotiations of complex insurance provisions in client and vendor contracts
  • Manage the placement and administration of all local EMEA insurance policies in-country and region
  • Partner with key internal and external stakeholders on insurance strategy and developing insurance processes to ensure optimal insurance program structure for the business and operations
  • Assist business teams with identification of scope or other risk and/or insurance issues in contracts
  • Manage the reporting and resolution of insurance claims within authority on local country, regional, and/or global insurance policies, as applicable
  • Provide subject matter expertise, ongoing consultation, and training to all levels of the organization regarding internal and external insurance and risk management issues
  • Identify loss drivers and claims trends unique to each business unit; partner with the business teams and other corporate functions to create and implement loss control initiatives to reduce claims frequency and severity and reduce the companyâs Total Cost of Risk
  • Partner with other regional risk managers on global and/or cross-regional contracts and projects
  • Assist VP, Global Risk Management with regional Mergers & Acquisitions due diligence and integration of the acquired company into Cushman & Wakefieldâs insurance and risk management programs
  • Partner with the cross-functional teams on vendor management and vendor compliance
  • Prepare and present risk reports to management as required or requested
  • Ensure claims and other risk data is accurately maintained in the companyâs Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) and other internal and external systems, as needed
  • Assist with other regional risk and insurance projects as requested or needed

Key Competencies

  • Proven ability and comfort with assessing and negotiating complex contractual risk and insurance requirements across countries and regions
  • Experience leading the negotiation and management of corporate insurance programs across countries and regions
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with flexibility and little oversight
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills, including oral and written communication, collaboration, negotiation, conflict mediation, and ability to work with a variety of personalities at all levels of the organization
  • Analytic and strategic thinker capable of translating senior-level direction and corporate risk management policies and procedures to structured, practical, efficient and effective business processes

Experience

  • 10+ years in corporate risk management and/or corporate insurance roles with progressive responsibility in a global, regional, or multi-country organization
  • Experience leading the negotiation of complex insurance provisions in contracts across a range of business units, countries, and regions
  • Strong background in property and casualty and professional indemnity insurance coverages
  • Management of complex regional and global insurance programs with large self-insured retentions
  • Commercial real estate experience a plus
  • Bachelorâs degree required, preferably in risk management, business or other related field
  • Risk management and/or insurance designation is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Computer proficiency to utilize online Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS)
