Enterprise-Wide Technology (EWT)

EWT is the UK Firm's internal technology division and is accountable for delivering a range of services to the UK Firm. Taking a holistic approach, this includes gathering requirements, solution design, build and run and the execution of complex change portfolios focused on security, data, core infrastructure and business applications.

Role Purpose:

At its core, the goal of the EWT- FinOps Team is a strategic cloud financial management organisation that enables KPMG to get maximum business value by helping engineering, finance & business teams to collaborate on data-driven spending decisions. The Cloud Cost Optimization Manager is responsible for leading the team to manage the end-to-end lifecycle for cloud financial management including data analysis, forecasting and optimization.

This person will be responsible for working with a range of internal stakeholders to design, develop and manage the FinOps function to optimise cloud costs. The role will create analytics and implement a body of reporting to enable visibility and transparency into the Cloud Portfolio to help proactively manage all aspects of our cloud usage and spend and also enable and ensure clarity of storytelling in line with the company's Cloud and Tech investments priorities. This will be accomplished through your leadership and drive of cloud Cost Governance across the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Translating cloud data into actionable recommendations, promoting cost-aware architecture design, optimised cloud licensing of software and databases and leveraging code to automate optimization.
  • Drive cost optimization within the cloud through monitoring, discovery, development, and sharing of cost-saving opportunities primarily in Azure.
  • Prepare and manage reports on cloud costs and cloud consumption against budgets and forecast plans.
  • Partner with our Architecture and Operations Teams to ensure appropriate tagging and alerts strategies are deployed and maintained at scale to manage costs
  • Leverage the FinOps tools, interpret the findings, and make technical recommendations to the business application teams to help reduce ongoing cost.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
  • Demonstrable professional experience Cloud Advisory & IT Financial Services or Operational Experience with Cloud Cost Governance within an IT Organization
  • Experience and working knowledge of native cloud cost management tooling and/or third- party cloud management or optimization platforms
  • Experience in working within FinOps subject area within a large enterprise
  • Cost management knowledge including but not limited to chargeback modelling, cost savings and avoidance tracking, trending and variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Azure cloud practitioner certifications
