UK Cross Border Manager

As a result of the UK leaving the EU, Mars UK is responsible for ensuring a smooth movement of goods between factories and suppliers and into markets, and compliance to UK/EU Governmental cross-border requirements and regulations relating to importing and exporting goods to/from the UK. This role will be key point of support & escalation for all UK legal entities (except RC) for any operational issues relating to cross border processes. The scope covers finished goods imports and exports, raws & packs, engineering equipment, and other key commodities which are imported / exported. This role will be a Line Manager for the UK market x border co-ordinator roles, and a ‘dotted line’ operational leader’ to import/export associates at manufacturing sites, offering both process support as well as coaching on day to day prioritization and communication management. Whilst sitting within the UK market supply chain team, the role will connect regularly with the EU X-border community of practice.
What are we looking for?- Extensive and relevant Supply chain and/or import/export/customs experience preferred

- Operational (daily) point of escalation for Supply Chain cross border coordinators, as well as UK factories
- Supporting where requested to ensure Mars is compliant to all customs / x-border processes in UK, as defined by Trade Compliance (TC) and Scientific and Regulatory Affairs (SRA)
- Lead x-functional UK teams to maintain and align existing x border operational processes as well as implement new where appropriate, as defined by TC and SRA
- Continued education of internal market teams including sales and activity management in regards to import/export laws and restrictions
- Maintain current comprehensive knowledge of x-border policies and practices and provide guidance on a) how Mars internal processes fit with these and b) how external customers might seek support to apply these to new business opportunities
- Point of contact for sales and customer queries, and liaison with TC/SRA to direct customers to public documents regarding legislation and regulations.
- Responsible for identifying and implementing Continuous Improvement and optimization opportunities for all x-border operational tasks & flows, through understanding current processes and systems managing the flow of goods into and out of the market.
- Responsible for measuring and reviewing Mars customs agents against agreed operational SLA’s/KPI’s, driving correcting action and providing periodic management reviews summarizing performance.
- Customs agents invoice approval, and cost validation, working with Finance on import/export costs
- Prepare & Lead the UK internal x-border community meetings, and audits (eg QMP) and lead the implementation of gap closing action plans. Collate data to support any TC/SRA related queries for HMRC/external bodies.
- Represent UK in European x-border Community of Practice
- Develop and leading of UK x-functional x-border community in market and factory
