We are looking to recruit to a new role within the administration team at the Practice that of Medical Summariser/Clinical Coder.

If you have a keen attention to detail, office or GP Practice experience, and a good sense of humour, then this could be the role for you

Main duties of the job
  1. Coding medical letters that come into the surgery
  2. Processing GP2GP transfers
  3. Reviewing medical records and producing an accurate summary of the patients' medical history.
  4. Read coding the information into the practice clinical system
  5. Auditing data collection standards in the practice
  6. Filing and retrieving paperwork
About us

The Cornerstone Practice is based in the centre of March in the heart of the Fens. We have over 9600 patients. On staff, we have 3 GP Partners, 4 Nurse Practitioners, a full-time Mental Health Practitioner, Treatment Room Nurses, HCA's, a Diabetic Specialist Nurse, a COPD Specialist Nurse, and a large admin team.

In addition, we have a physio, social prescribers, Paramedics, and a Pharmacist via our PCN that undertake clinics for our patients. We are a friendly team that work hard for our patients but also support each other.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary

To be responsible for the summarising and read-coding of relevant information into the patients' electronic healthcare records on the S1 clinical system. In addition, the post-holder will also support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Reviewing records and accurately producing a summary of the patients' medical history
  2. Accurately read-coding data on S1
  3. Reviewing progress of summarising ensuring practice targets are achieved
  4. Coding of clinical letters ensuring they are processed appropriately, in line with extant protocols
  5. File and store records as required
  6. Scanning of patient-related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients' healthcare records
  7. Input data into the patients' healthcare records as necessary
  8. Carry out system searches as requested
  9. Assist in the completion of SAR requests

Qualifications
  • GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths
Experience
  • Experience of working in an office environment
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Good sense of humour
  • Calm and able to work under pressure
  • Experience of working in a GP Practice
  • Experience of SystemOne
  • Experience of medical terminology
