Job Purpose

To act as an escort for children with complex and medical needs on the Home to School transport provided by the Authority

Main Tasks performed

To provide support for children with complex and medical needs whilst travelling on Home to School Transport.

To ensure that the child / children arrive at school at the time stipulated under the Contract.

To ensure the child / children are transported in a safe, comfortable and dignified manner.

To provide assistance - taking into account any limitation that the child’s / children’s disability may impose which in some cases will entail elements of personal care and in emergencies administering medication for which training will be given.

To report to the school nurse, LSA and/or parent any incidents or information which are relevant to the health and wellbeing of the child / children.

To convey any relevant information to the Education Transport Officer with regards to any incidents, pupils wellbeing, transport, reviews etc of the child / children.

To complete all necessary documentation required by the Education Transport Officer and return the same to that person on a timely basis.

To carry out Health & Safety responsibilities in accordance with the Authority’s Health & Safety policies.

To carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade as reasonably requested by the manager.
