We are looking to recruit a Freight & Mail Working Supervisor to join our friendly team at a prestigious building in Cheltenham to provide an efficient and timely Freight & Mail service forwarding and delivery service to meet Client requirements. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7am and 4pm.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the Goods receiving function is appropriately resourced throughout contractual service hours and to meet agreed periods of work outside normal working hours.

  • Ensure that G4S provides an effective Goods in/processing service forwarding and delivery service which maintains high standards of material handling, security and accountability.

  • Ensure scheduled daily goods in tasks are completed and prioritise consignments by operational constraints.

  • Identify and schedule staffing resources to meet fluctuations in freight volumes.

  • Liaise with and delegate appropriate tasks and duties to staff who provide Goods in and processing service functions.

  • Carry out manual handling tasks as required.

  • Assist the Freight & Mail Team Leader leading and developing Depot staff to meet operational needs.

  • Cover supervisory tasks such as Employee Development Reviews, time sheet sign-off, leave application sign-off etc.

  • Substitute in the absence of the Freight & Mail Team Leader.

  • Ensure that any daily safety or operational checks are properly completed and recorded and that operational equipment and supplies are in good order – in particular: freight handling equipment and  trolleys; freight cages, sacks, and any other equipment on which the function relies.

  • Reporting to the appropriate person all unsafe conditions, damage, near misses - whether or not there are any personal injuries, in order that remedial action can be taken.

Essential Criteria:

  • Significant experience of working with a team within a goods receiving & processing environment.

  • Good verbal and written communication.

  • Able to work on your own initiative.

  • Experience of Microsoft Office Suite (Word & Excel).
