We are currently seeking a Technical Coordinator at Thames Water.

As a Technical Co-Ordinator for the Network Asset Maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Co-ordination and Scheduling of work is in place to make sure that technicians have the information and equipment in place to allow them to start and complete our maintenance programmes as scheduled.

You will need to focus on maintaining a high level of productivity, therefore reducing the need to return to base, make unnecessary repeat visits and completing tasks on a first-time basis. You will need to balance the available field resources to ensure efficient delivery of our multi asset maintenance programmes whilst following calm network protocol and TW best operating standards.

Due to the varying workstreams you will be expected to work with different business units and service providers to build effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver high performance of the water network activities that you are responsible for to ensure key performance indicators and service level agreements are met.
  • Location - Hybrid - Coppermills (WTW) - E17 7HE, Woodford PS & Deptford WTW.
  • 38 hours per week.
  • Permanent, full-time position.
What you will be doing as a Technical Coordinator
  • Management of all water network pre-requisites and activities delivered by the technicians to facilitate the delivery of maintenance projects and programmes. This role will involve day to day contractor liaison and management, input into future planning and solutions, and provide technical support to the wider team.
  • Be responsible for planning work via SAP (Or WFM replacement), Z-One, SharePoint and PTW (Permit to work) systems to ensure all works are captured on TW corporate systems to ensure real time auditing is captured. Review of relevant processes to confirm updates to our water networks through the GIS (Geographic Information System) redlining process is being completed effectively.
  • Communicating with all stakeholders in a professional manner to ensure efficient completion of projects and maintenance programmes. Provide specialist technical advice where appropriate to support the first-time completion of planned works. Attendance and contribution to performance meetings to provide updates and highlight risks to delivery.
  • Support the drive of technical solution forwards. Establish yourself as technical lead on water networks activities on complex works. Support the implementation of new technical systems and processes to improve efficiency of the Field Team. Proactively seek to understand asset care plans and asset criticality.
  • Engagement with HS&W initiatives providing examples of best practice / contributions to HS&W improvements - Contribute and be active during team briefs and H&S toolbox talks.
  • Provision of accurate and timely information to the technicians in the field so that they have the knowledge to provide clear and relevant information to our customers. Attention to detail on all water network plans to ensure we have zero customer SI failures on our planned activities. Ensure full understanding of WQ (Water Quality) process and procedures within co-ordination activities to maintain safe and clean drinking water for our customers. Always representing Thames Water in a professional, safe and caring manner when on site.
  • Proactively support our network operations colleagues and teams on water network activities during large asset failure and/or events.
What you should bring to the role?
  • Very good knowledge on Water Networks Standards, processes, and assets with at least 2 to 3 years’ experience.
  • Be a strong collaborator building trust within teams and across siloes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to tackle key outcomes not specific problems and enable others to collaborate and raise performance.
  • Ability to maintain high quality standards and strategic thinking, especially during periods of high work volumes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Proven skills of water networks competency and completion of relevant operational water networks training.
  • Ability to understand the various assets on our water networks system and their purpose for maintaining a stable water network.
  • Can demonstrate a strong external customer service ethic, measurement of customer satisfaction and a proven track record of delivering improvement for internal and external customers.
  • Proven experience in project or work coordination with ability to communicate in a friendly, open, honest and constructive manner with a range of people and stakeholder departments.
  • This role will require you to work autonomously as well as within a team. The role requires driving to assess sites and support the team on occasion, therefore, you must be a confident driver and preferably hold a clean, full UK driving licence.
