Assistant or Associate Professor in Project Management

Position Overview

Location: London, Devon House (St Katherines Dock) The role is suitable for hybrid working, provided the appointee is able to attend the campus (Devon House, London) for face-to-face work as and when required.

Salary Range: Assistant Professor (G8) £47,321 to £54,827, progressing to £58,155 once in post Associate Professor (G9) £56,467 to £69,404, progressing to £75,833 once in post

Direct Reports: Assistant Professor: None. Associate Professor: Line management duties may be expected.

Reports to: Assigned line manager within the Centre for Apprenticeships

The role

Northeastern University London wishes to appoint an Assistant or Associate Professor (Teaching & Scholarship) in Project Management. The appointee will help develop our UK undergraduate and postgraduate degree apprenticeship programmes including but not limited to the area of Project Management, and provide general service to the University within and across faculties. In the first instance, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development and delivery of the university’s online BSc Project Management with Digital Technologies and MSc Digital and Technology Solutions.

We wish to appoint a specialist in Project Management. Preference may be given to candidates with experience of English apprenticeships and active interests in the relationship of project management methodologies and professional standards, e.g, APM PMQ, PRINCE2, MSP, P3O, SAFe, and Scrum.

Core duties will include the development and teaching of cutting-edge courses in Project Management both online and on campus, assessment and moderation, student support, peer review, etc. Indicative subject areas may include (but are not limited to) project budgeting and costing, project change control, project scheduling and resource management.

About the Faculty

The recently formed Centre for Apprenticeships is the home of the University’s apprenticeship and work-related learning programmes and promotes excellence in work based learning, online teaching, and partner-engaged instructional design. Apprenticeships represent a gold-standard of experiential education. They combine academically rigorous HE programmes with the real-world tasks and challenges that learners encounter daily in the workplace. The Centre champions this style of learning and represents the faculty and learners that form a rapidly growing part of NU London’s community.

Person Specification Criteria

Qualifications

• PhD completed, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area.
• FHEA status, or equivalent, achieved or expected.

• Willingness and capacity to undertake continuous professional development in relation to institutionally strategic themes, including but not limited to technology, data, sustainability, and ethics.
• Ability to develop excellent educational provision in areas with significant appeal to students, including at postgraduate level, and with a focus on experiential learning.
• Flexibility and capacity to teach across a wide range of courses, where appropriate in collaboration with specialists from other disciplines
• Teaching competency in Project Management to Levels 4–7 (i.e., all undergraduate and postgraduate levels)
• Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills, both face-to-face and online
• Excellent IT skills and evidence of supporting the integration of technologies into learning and teaching.
• Excellent time-management and organisational skills
• Excellent ability to work with professional bodies
