Trust Junior Doctor (SHO) in Endocrinology

Applications are welcomed to apply for Trust SHO in Endocrinology post.

This post is 9-5 Mon-Fri without any on-calls commitment and will be based in Endocrinology department at Northwick Park hospital.

The Endocrinology GIM wards are James Ward at Northwick Park with outliers on Gray Ward, with 2 consultants, each caring for 15-20 patients. Inpatient care is supported by ward-based registrars, core medical trainees/ GP trainees/ Trust Doctors and Foundation Year 1 doctors. The allocated ward consultants who each week will undertake five morning ward rounds a week and support a daily board round.

There are currently 7 consultants in endocrinology and general medicine to whom the post holder will be responsible.

Main duties of the job

Post duties are standard Mon-Fri ward cover without any out of hours commitment.

Essential Criteria:

GMC registration Previous medical experience in the UK of at least 6 months At least one year's medical experience at F1 level or above Sound general medical knowledge Sound communication skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team Keen to learn and train in busy Major Acute Hospital

Job description
Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the regular clinical assessment andmanagement of all patients, in conjunction with consultants. Close supervision will be available at all times, but incumbents of the posts will be trained and encouraged to develop initiative in clinical assessment, diagnosis and active management of their patients, ratherthan being limited to carrying out a daily list of tasks.
