About Us:
My client are a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation seeking a talented Engineering Manager to join our team. Our client base spans various sectors, requiring innovative engineering solutions and stringent compliance with industry standards.
Role Overview:
As the Engineering Manager, you will lead the maintenance and engineering department, driving performance against key KPIs and managing a dedicated team of engineers. You will oversee the engineering budget, ensure health & safety compliance, and play a pivotal role in continuous improvement initiatives across the department. This is a hands-on leadership role, where you will be expected to guide your team and work closely with other departments to deliver engineering excellence. You would hold responsibility for a total team of 15 individuals.
PLEASE NOTE: This role would also require working on the isle of Jersey for 2 weeks of the year
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve and exceed engineering KPIs.
- Day-to-day management of the engineering department at our Airdrie site.
- Oversee and manage the engineering budget.
- Liaise with the Head of Engineering and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Lead engineering projects that support business goals.
- Continuously assess and improve the engineering team s performance.
- Champion and implement lean techniques and processes.
- Ensure the effective response to Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs.
- Manage and maintain the PPM system (MMP) and contractor compliance via Q rims.
- Support the development of group engineering strategy.
- Ensure health & safety compliance within the department and manage related documentation.
- Collaborate with other managers to deliver solutions and report on engineering activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven track record of managing large teams in a food or similar FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Extensive experience in budgetary management and cost control.
- Expertise in engineering systems management (MMP and Qrims).
- Strong understanding of continuous improvement, resource planning, and metal detection principles.
- Ideally, you will hold an engineering degree or a minimum of HND in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Health & Safety qualifications and/or substantial experience in this area.
