Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract
Reference/IRC: IRC154612
Closing Date: 11/08/2024
Salary: £30,966 per annum
We’re looking for an Assistant Climate and Environment Adviser to join us in Wales.
We’re seeking an Assistant Climate and Environment Adviser whose passion for the environment, reducing carbon and sustainable travel will ensure that the Trust continues to conserve and protect special places for future generations.
The National Trust’s Climate and Environment team is recognised nationally and internationally for its ground-breaking work in responding to climate change and reducing our use of natural resources and carbon.
Contract: 24 months / 37.5 hours per week
As this role covers the Wales region, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.
You'll work as part of an innovative and expert team to help achieve the Trust’s vision of tackling climate change, reducing carbon and making the most efficient use of natural resources in everything we do. You’ll do this by providing analytical support, looking at carbon, energy, water and waste to pinpoint where and how we can improve performance. You'll also be providing administrative support to colleagues across Wales answering questions and giving hands-on help and advice, and making sure that the data captured in the Climate and Environmental Management System is accurate and up-to-date.
Who we’re looking for:
- An understanding of environmental issues, legislation and external policy relating to energy, waste, land use and natural resources
- Some practical experience of delivering environmental projects
- Good communication skills, relaying technical information in a simple way and the ability to engage a range of different stakeholders to build effective relationships
- To be organised and confident at collating; analysing and managing data, maps, producing reports and providing insight to support others to make decisions
- Skilled at reporting and providing insight to inform decisions
- Highly analytical, able to spot exceptions and patterns in data that indicate opportunities to reduce energy, water, waste and carbon
- Skilled at communicating technical information in a simple way, to engage and inspire a wide variety of people
