Gloucester, United Kingdom The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education Full time

Location: We offer employees the opportunity to work flexibly from home, providing it is within the UK. There will be a need to visit higher education providers in this role.

Hours: 35 hours per week, flexible working available

This is an exciting time to join an organisation with an essential role in the UK’s tertiary education sector.

We are a world-leading quality agency with unmatched experience of providing impartial regulatory and collaborative quality assurance and enhancement. We support universities and colleges in working with students and learners, governments, funders and regulatory bodies to evidence and enhance the excellent quality and high standards of the education they provide.

We work towards a greater public understanding - domestically and internationally - of how excellent quality is demonstrated in UK higher education, and how autonomous providers both assure its delivery and address weaknesses. Our work safeguards the value of qualifications for students and learners and protects and promotes the reputation of higher education.

From 1 September 2024, QAA will become the quality assurance service provider for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and will provide a range of quality assurance activities.

About the role

Partnering alongside our NMC Services Manager, this role will support the set up, launch and ongoing delivery of QAA’s quality assurance service for the NMC.

This role is external facing and stakeholder focused and will lead contact with the NMC and providers offering, or seeking to offer, approved programmes. The role will support the launch of services and stakeholder relationships ensuring continuity of service as the new service provider.

As this is a new role, the duties and responsibilities are expected to evolve as the work moves from mobilisation to embedded business. This role will be involved in this.

About you

You are a current registrant on the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register and have a strong understanding of the NMC’s Standards for Education and Training and how they are applied in higher education (including with practice learning partners).

Your background in the healthcare sector, combined with your knowledge of health education standards, positions you as an expert in this field. Additionally, your experience within the higher education sector has provided you with a deep understanding of its unique challenges and opportunities.

You are a highly skilled professional with a proven track record in managing customer and stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear and effective communication at all levels. You have successfully led and managed remote teams, fostering a culture of engagement, productivity and continuous improvement. You excel in building and maintaining successful partnerships, and you bring a collaborative approach to teamworking, whether face-to-face or remotely. Your experience in managing projects within agreed specifications and budgets demonstrates your ability to deliver high-quality results on time.

If you are a strategic thinker with a passion for driving success through collaboration and innovation, we want to hear from you

More information about this role can be found in the job description. If you would like an informal conversation with Rob Stroud, Director, Assessment Services and Access to Higher Education, please contact careers@qaa.ac.uk

The closing date for applications is 13 September 2024 so please do not hesitate to apply.

To apply, please create a profile on our recruitment portal and submit your CV with a covering letter outlining your experience and interest in the role as well as confirming you hold current NMC registration. Only applications which include a CV, cover letter and confirmation of current NMC registration will be considered for the role.

QAA is fully committed to everyday flexibility and has adopted a culture based on trust and fairness that genuinely encourages QAA and individuals to thrive. Providing that business needs are met, employees should normally be able to work where and when they want. Many of our employees work flexibly in different ways, including part-time and compressed hours. Please let us know about the flexibility you need in your application.

QAA recognises the positive benefits of equality, diversity and inclusion. Our aim is to be truly representative of all sections of society, and for employees to feel respected, free to be themselves no matter what their identity or background, and able to give their best. We value the differences that a variety of backgrounds, experiences, perspectives and skills brings and strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants to apply and join us.

If you have not heard from QAA within three weeks of the closing date for this vacancy, then your application has not been successful. Please be aware that we are unable to provide feedback on individual job applications.
