You’ll be joining the Omics team who develop bespoke, innovative solutions for Omics. We combine biology, engineering, and physical sciences to develop ground-breaking solutions such as library preparation, ultra long DNA extraction and environmental metagenomics. You’ll be involved in the full product development lifecycle, from requirement capture to delivering prototypes ready for manufacture. We’re truly interdisciplinary – you’ll be working closely with life scientists and engineers to realise the projects.

 

As a Technical Project Leader you’ll take full ownership of a project, from managing the client relationship to the project delivery. You ensure we’re delivering technical brilliance. At TTP you’ll always have the opportunity to remain hands-on - you enjoy leading teams, as well as being part of the team.

 

You’ll also have the opportunity to propose and develop entirely new technological and commercial offerings. Your experience working within Omics will have given you deep market and technology insight and will enable you to uncover valuable new business opportunities and even new areas of technology for us. Such technology areas could include long read sequencing, bioinformatics, proteomics or any other application areas of Omics techniques.

 

Within your technical specialism you’ll be able to engage with potential clients to identify opportunities and develop proposals. You will help deliver projects and interface with multi-disciplinary teams at TTP and subject specialists in client teams.

 

Omics technologies generate significant amounts of data and our clients generate value when they generate actionable insights from this data. Your knowledge of bioinformatics will help us develop and deliver proposals that encompass sample preparation through to actionable data, You’ll be able to advise on the bioinformatics approaches that should be taken and support colleagues in analysing sequencing data.

Requirements

Your application will stand out if you can demonstrate how you have:

  • Skills in Programmable logic controllers (PLC) (Siemens, Beckhoff, or others), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
  • Engaged with colleagues as a mentor, sharing skills and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to summarise project status and discuss critical issues/milestones with colleagues and external clients.
  • An excellent academic record with a 1st or 2:1 degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

It would be great if you can demonstrate your:

  • Track record/working knowledge and relevant skill set such as:
    • Experience working with PLCs in process control environments.
    • Excellent knowledge of control system specification, architecture design methodologies, and familiarity with various requirements management and system modelling tools.
    • Experience in developing software for communication protocols including OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus.
    • Experience with control system development tools, including SCADA configuration and deployment.
    • Test-driven development techniques for verification and validation within regulated environments.
    • Hands-on experience in debugging control systems on industrial platforms.
    • Experience developing control systems in regulated, process-control industries.
  • Experience with developing automation for the pharmaceutical industry would be an advantage, but is not a requirement.
