As a key member of our Biotech, Cell and Gene Team, you'll collaborate closely with life scientists, software engineers, and mechanical engineers to design, install, manage, and maintain equipment and software on PLC and SCADA systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in bringing projects to a successful conclusion, and you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of disciplines.

We're looking for an experienced Controls and Automation Engineer who can demonstrate a passion for hands-on development, as well as the ability to guide the big picture thinking needed to drive projects forward. If you have a strong academic record, excellent communication skills, and a track record of working with PLCs in process control environments, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, install, manage, and maintain equipment and software on PLC and SCADA systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop bespoke hardware solutions
  • Develop software for communication protocols, including OPC-UA, MQTT, and Modbus
  • Work on control system development tools, including SCADA configuration and deployment
  • Debug control systems on industrial platforms
Requirements:
  • Strong academic record with a 1st or 2:1 degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills to summarise project status and discuss critical issues/milestones with colleagues and external clients
  • Experience working with PLCs in process control environments
  • Knowledge of control system specification, architecture design methodologies, and familiarity with various requirements management and system modelling tools
