The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join the team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support the learning and development of children with communication and interaction difficulties. This role is crucial in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieving their individual goals.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with communication and interaction difficulties.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Support pupils in developing social skills and positive interactions with peers.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored interventions and support strategies.
  • Monitor and record pupils' progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents/carers.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage and promote independence and self-esteem in pupils.


Requirements

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with communication and interaction difficulties.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN support is desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
