Multi-Professional Primary and Community Care Education Lead

Job summary

The Multi Professional Primary and Community Care Education & Training Lead posts (7 posts across Wales, 1 per Health Board) will support the introduction of a comprehensive multi professional education and training framework for primary and community care in Wales.

The role will support both HEIW and local Health Boards in transforming through designing, embedding and delivering new approaches to multi professional training and education across HEIW and their Health Board. The role will ensure the delivery of high-quality training programmes that meet regulatory requirements and guidance produced by other bodies (for example, Royal Colleges).

The post holder will have a leading role locally in supporting Health Boards to provide high quality education and training working with a complex and diverse range of stakeholders including Professional Collaboratives, Clusters, primary care providers, other agencies and training providers as well as a broader role that encompasses dedicated sessional input within HEIW. They will also play a key role as part of a broader network of Academy Clinical Leads on a national level across Wales.

Main duties of the job

Education and Training leads will work collaboratively with the HEIW Multi-Professional Primary and Community Education and Training Unit and alongside postgraduate Deaneries, and professional leads across a wide range of professionals including all independent contractors (Pharmacists, GPs, Dentists and Optometrists) as well as nurses, Healthcare scientists and Allied Health Professionals to shape the national approach to commissioning training and education for primary and community care and ensure that this is fit for purpose.

Education and Training Leads will work as part of an all-Wales network to ensure that training and education supports the delivery of the primary care model for Wales and the broader aspirations set out within 'A Healthier Wales'.

Working with internal and external stakeholders, the role will support services in primary and community care to identify the skill sets needed within their local workforce and co-ordinate education and training to meet that need. This includes education and training within primary and community care to support:

Staff new to the workforce Development of new roles Continuing professional development to maintain and extend skills to work at top of license Multi professional working and learning The future workforce

Person Specification
Qualification and Knowledge
Essential

Educated to postgraduate degree level in relevant subject, or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area Professional Registration with the GMC Significant experience of leading workforce transformation, education and training programmes or other high-level implementation programmes in other areas

Post graduate qualification in education or training

Experience

Evidence of high-quality education and health sector experience particularly in relation to the specific responsibilities of this role Demonstrate strategic thinking and proven management, financial and business planning experience, delivering complex solutions on time and within budget
