We are looking for a Behaviour Support Officer to join us at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the consistent implementation of the Behaviour for Learning PolicyThe calm and purposeful entrance and exit of students into/out of the academyWorking with the behaviour team to ensure students are monitored and supervised before school, during break and throughout lunchThe calm and purposeful movement around the academy between lessonsManaging and supervising late detentions every afternoonEnsuring that students enter the building in full academy uniform and if not, following the agreed proceduresEnsuring that follow up action is taken for students failing to meet academy standardsFollowing through any issues to do with behaviour as requiredInformally mentoring students with repeat incidence of exit or exclusion and those on PSPs, including supporting in lessons where appropriateEnsuring that all issues that relate to student safety such as allegations of bullying are passed on for further investigationSupervising students internally excluded or exited from lessonsEnsuring that students actively engage with meaningful learning whilst in the supervision roomLiaising with teaching staff to ensure appropriate work is provided and appropriate provision is in placeLiaising with parents/carers and relevant APs and subject staff to ensure smooth transition to and from internal exclusionMaintaining a calm and purposeful learning environmentLiaising with the Heads of House and Assistant Principals to support monitoring of students on behaviour and attendance/punctuality reportsEnsuring that designated students have up-to-date report cards and that completed cards are filled appropriatelyKeeping records of poor punctuality and organise the late detentionsCarrying out administrative tasks for the Vice Principal as requestedTo assist the academy Leadership Group in maintaining the highest standards of attendance and punctuality to lessons including corridor sweeps that ensure that students make their way to lessons punctuallyOverseeing the registration of students who are late to the academy as requiredQualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, or equivalentKnowledge of the range of barriers to learning that students faceTraining in child protection and safeguarding proceduresBasic knowledge of first aid, e.g. emergency first aid courseTwo years' experience of working in an inner-city school or educational establishment.Experience of dealing successfully with a range of behaviour issues.Experience of working with staff to ensure excellent behaviour for learning.Experience of working with families.Experience of supervising a group of students for detentions, referral and internal exclusion as appropriate.Experience of working with challenging students and finding ways in which we can meet their needs more successfullyExperience of working with students from a range of ethnic backgrounds
