These posts are suitable for doctors wishing to enhance their general medical competencies and skills, or considering a career in either Acute Medicine or Oncology.
Main duties of the job In order to be considered applicants must meet the essential criteria outlined in the person specification and have:
·Completion of Foundation Competencies.
·A minimum of basic medical training of 18 months.
·At least 12 months experience in the NHS with full GMC registration.
Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.
Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.
This post may be suitable for those wishing to undertake an “F3” role.
Working for your organisation The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Whilst in Acute Medicine the successful candidates will be required to help us in our aim to return patients to their homes as soon as possible. This means that staff will be required to be proactive in driving the patient journey and looking at all alternatives to admission beyond 12-24 hours as part of a close multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidates will work primarily on the short-stay general medical wards as well as partake in the running of the General Medical Take. Outpatient experience will be gained in our established Ambulatory Care Unit and medical follow up clinic.
For the posts in Oncology, the duties of the post will include the day to day care and management of in-patients receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy and palliative care. There will also be opportunity to see outpatients, participate in multi-disciplinary clinics for the management of solid tumours and gain experience of acute oncology, radiotherapy and to participate in research and audit projects.
