Health & Safety Officer/Co-Ordinator Location: Employment Type: Full-time
Solidcor designs and manufactures next-generation fire doorsets engineered for quality, performance, and full compliance. Our mission is to raise safety standards across the UK by building products that protect lives and perform when it matters most. The HSE Coordinator will lead and coordinate Solidcor’s Health, Safety and Environmental functions, ensuring our manufacturing facility operates safely, compliantly, and in line with our Integrated Management System (IMS). You will champion a proactive safety culture, support operational teams, and ensure our people have the safest possible environment to work in.
Develop, implement, and maintain HSE programmes tailored to a manufacturing environment
• Conduct risk assessments across production, machinery use, material handling and site operations
• Coordinate and deliver mandatory HSE training for all employees and contractors
• Support the management of workers’ compensation claims and provide accurate reporting
• Prepare HSE performance reports, statistics, and updates for senior leadership
• Maintain compliance with HSE legislation, ensuring Solidcor stays ahead of regulatory changes
• Facilitate HSE meetings and toolbox talks
• Conduct regular HSE audits to ensure compliance with IMS and manufacturing standards
• Raise awareness of HSE issues through clear communication, signage, and training
• Provide guidance to line managers on HSE best practice (fire safety, hazardous substances, machinery safeguarding, noise control, waste management)
• Develop internal HSE policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections to ensure standards are upheld
• Keep accurate records of inspections, audits, incidents, and training
• Ensure safe installation, operation, and maintenance of production equipment
• Liaise with regulatory bodies including HSE, Fire Authority, and Environmental Agencies
Ability to interpret HSE procedures, written instructions, and technical documentation
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and associated risks
• High attention to detail and a commitment to quality
• Solid understanding of Health & Safety principles and policies
• Flexible and able to support multiple shift patterns when required
• Computer literate with experience using Safety Culture, iAuditor, MyCompliance or similar systems
• Demonstrates Solidcor and Harmony Fire Group Values:
NEBOSH General Certificate (or higher) – desirable
• Previous experience in an HSE role within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment – highly desirable
• Experience working with machinery, equipment inspections, and hands-on operations beneficial
