Job Title: Data Governance Manager
Location: London, United Kingdom
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement data governance strategies and frameworks to ensure the effective management of data assets.
2. Establish data governance policies, standards, and procedures to maintain data integrity and quality.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data governance requirements and guidelines for data collection, storage, and usage.
4. Design and implement data governance processes, including data classification, data lineage, metadata management, and data access controls.
5. Conduct regular data audits and assessments to identify data quality issues and recommend remediation actions.
6. Monitor and enforce data governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
7. Provide guidance and training to employees on data governance best practices and standards.
8. Collaborate with IT teams to implement data governance tools and technologies, such as data cataloging and data lineage tools.
9. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in data governance and recommend improvements to enhance data management practices.
10. Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data requirements and ensure data governance initiatives align with business objectives.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
2. Proven experience in data governance or data management roles, preferably in a large organization.
3. Strong understanding of data governance principles, methodologies, and best practices.
4. Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their implications on data governance.
5. Knowledge of data management technologies, such as data cataloging, data lineage, and metadata management tools.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data quality issues and devise effective solutions.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
8. Experience in implementing data governance frameworks and driving cultural change within an organization.
9. Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks, such as DAMA-DMBOK, is desirable.
10. Professional certifications in data management or data governance (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are a plus.
