Senior Actuarial Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Actuarial Manager to lead reserving and support capital and risk management activities across three group entities. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing actuarial reserving under multiple reporting bases (US GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS 17), ensuring robust governance, and delivering high-quality insights to senior management. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. The individual will also contribute to broader capital and risk initiatives, including Solvency II standard formula development, stress and scenario testing, and forward-looking risk assessments. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end actuarial reserving process under US GAAP, UK GAAP, and IFRS 17. Provide oversight, review, and challenge of technical provisions and methodologies. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance in actuarial reporting. Collaborate with finance and risk teams to deliver high-quality management information. Support the calculation and update of the Solvency II Standard Formula. Perform forward-looking stress and scenario testing to assess capital adequacy and inform risk strategy. Contribute to the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and related capital planning exercises. Partner with risk, finance, and underwriting functions to ensure consistent risk management practices. Develop, enhance, and maintain actuarial models using VBA and Python. If not yet fully proficient in Python, demonstrate a clear willingness and ability to learn. Drive efficiency in processes by introducing automation and advanced analytics. Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership. Act as a subject-matter expert on reserving, capital, and risk topics across the group. Foster collaboration across business units and with external stakeholders (auditors, regulators). Qualifications Qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent). Significant post-qualification experience in P&C reserving and reporting under US GAAP, UK GAAP, and IFRS 17. Strong knowledge of Solvency II technical provisions and capital requirements. Demonstrable experience in capital modelling, risk management, and scenario testing. Technical programming skills in VBA; working knowledge of Python (or strong interest to develop). Proven track record of team leadership and stakeholder management. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to non-technical audiences. Strong project management and problem-solving capabilities.
