United Kingdom natcap Full time

Drive nature-positive action in the world, helping companies measure, report and act on natcap's nature intelligence.

The world is facing a nature crisis. We have lost 85% of the world’s wetlands, 35% of its forests and 65% of its living creatures. Action on nature is the next frontier for sustainability, as the world has to move beyond net zero to nature positive future. natcap is on a mission to accelerate the nature-positive transition by integrating nature intelligence into business decision-making. We support the world's leading companies to prioritise, measure and act on nature impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities.

What we are looking for:

We're looking for an exceptional Staff or Principal-level Product Engineer to add experience and expertise to our small but mighty engineering team.

As a Product Engineer, you'll work within our cross-functional Dashboard team to build a product that our customers love, find extremely valuable, and keep coming back to. You'll work closely with colleagues in Product, Design, Delivery, Science and, of course, Engineering to build a great product that is easy-to-use, performant, and secure.

You'll work across our product and data platform stack, getting features built end-to-end. You'll need to quickly build expertise in our domain — the science of ecology & biodiversity, and nature regulation & reporting frameworks — and communicate effectively with colleagues in other teams. This is an opportunity to apply your technical skills to the nature crisis in a hugely impactful role that will shape the nature platform that we’re building at NatCap.

In this position, you will:

  • Prototype, build and maintain the full-stack product platform and work on the applications (built in React/TS/Python), that our customers use.
  • Focus on delivering data insights in an easy-to-understand and actionable way.
  • Ensure the product code is high quality, robust, accessible and secure.
  • Work closely with engineers responsible for our data catalogue, models and infrastructure to constantly iterate and improve.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has multiple years of experience in an engineering role ideally in a full-stack capacity.
  • You have recent hands-on experience with Typescript, React and Python.
  • Is experienced with DevOps practices including CI/CD (GitHub Actions).
  • Is keen to learn new technologies to work with our science team.
  • Has worked with AWS.
  • Has experience working in an inherently complex domain and on tools for expert users.
  • Is a great communicator, both written and verbal, and are comfortable collaborating across disciplines.
  • Can create clarity for others.
  • Is happy getting your hands dirty outside of your role or comfort zone, if needed.

Why Join Us?

  • You'll have the opportunity to help build a fast-growing company.
  • Our salary offering aligns with industry benchmarks, ensuring competitiveness and fairness.
  • You will have the chance to contribute to the world’s leading solution to the nature crisis.
  • Regular away days at an offsite location to think about the big picture.
  • Generous learning and development budget.
