The opportunity

TSR Legal are currently working on behalf of a well regarded boutique law firm based in Cardiff who are looking to recruit a Commercial Litigation Solicitor. The role will play a key role in providing legal representation and strategic advice to clients involved in commercial disputes.

This position requires a strong understanding of commercial law, excellent negotiation and advocacy skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to understand their objectives, develop case strategies, and achieve favourable outcomes through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of Commercial Litigation matters, including contract disputes, shareholder disputes, professional negligence claims, and insolvency proceedings.
  • Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients throughout all stages of litigation, from pre-action advice through to trial and appeal if necessary.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to assess the merits of cases, identify legal issues, and develop effective strategies for resolution.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, witness statements, and settlement agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court rules and procedures.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, and alternative dispute resolution forums, advocating their interests effectively and professionally.
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation or arbitration proceedings to resolve disputes in a cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Liaise with clients, counsel, experts, and other stakeholders involved in litigation matters, maintaining clear and regular communication throughout the process.
  • Manage client relationships, providing regular updates, managing expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Keep abreast of developments in commercial law and litigation practice, staying informed about changes in legislation, case law, and procedural rules.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the firm, including partners, associates, and support staff, to leverage resources and expertise in handling complex litigation matters.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Understanding of commercial litigation and completed a Litigation seat
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex legal issues and develop creative solutions.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with experience representing clients in court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution forums.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation and research.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of clients’ business objectives and commercial considerations.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies or associations preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on legal developments in commercial law and litigation practice
