Elastic Team members span a wide range of skill sets, experience backgrounds, and time zones in order to offer flexibility to enterprise customers. We’re excited to launch a new monthly initiative, Meet the Experts, to introduce Elastic Team members and share their stories.
Ian is a Software Developer skilled in building data-intensive applications with Scala. Additionally, he enjoys exploring topics such as Data Engineering and Machine Learning through side projects and contributions to Open Source Software. Constant learning is his mantra, and he enjoys experimenting with new technologies that broaden his perspective.
What industries inspire you the most?The creative industry is the ultimate source of inspiration for me. As a fellow creative, I am constantly captivated by the incredible ways in which technology is taking centerstage, particularly in the realm of music.
How do you enjoy your free time?In those precious moments of free time, I transform into a part-time music producer, donning my creative cape and immersing myself in the enchanting world of sound. I find immense joy in combining the pulsating beats of electronic music with the soulful melodies of jazz.
What do you snack on when you're working on projects?My go-to snacks are the delightful treasures bestowed upon us by Mother Nature—fruits
Shalini is a Sri Lankan national currently in Malta living the European dream. She is a Front End Developer with over seven years of experience working with clients in the UK, Australia, and USA. Apart from coding life, she enjoys travelling with her pet dog Bella.
What industries inspire you the most?The technology industry is what inspires me the most. Each day we learn about new technologies, languages, AI etc... Learning about these keep me busy and updated about the current trends
How do you enjoy your free time?I enjoy my free time by playing with my puppy Bella. I love spoiling her with treats and toys. And when I am not playing with her, I enjoy watching movies or travelling.
What do you snack on when you're working on projects?I love to snack on Pringles or Start Biscuits (a product from Sri Lanka) when I am working.
What industries inspire you the most?I'm most inspired by the self-driving car industry and the advancements in electric vehicles and charging networks. The potential for autonomous vehicles to revolutionise transportation and reduce environmental impact is truly fascinating to me. I find myself constantly keeping up with the latest developments and breakthroughs in this field.
How do you enjoy your free time?In my free time, I have a couple of passions that keep me engaged. One is watching Anime, which I find to be a great source of inspiration and entertainment. It allows me to explore different storytelling techniques and immerse myself in captivating narratives. Additionally, I love diving into new technologies and learning about the latest trends. This knowledge fuels my desire to work on exciting side projects and explore innovative solutions.
What do you snack on when you’re working on projects?When I'm working on projects, my go-to snacks are biscuits and strawberry yoghurt. The combination of a crunchy biscuit and the refreshing sweetness of strawberry yoghurt provides the perfect balance of energy and enjoyment to keep me fueled and focused.
