Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - Data Centre? Location: Edenbridge, Kent Salary: Up to £70,000 + 10% Annual Bonus Our client are a leading engineering consultancy based in Kent, they are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team. With a diverse portfolio that includes commercial, data centre, industrial, and residential projects, they are excited to announce their recent success in securing a high profile data centre project in London. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled engineer to play a pivotal role in delivering high-profile projects and shaping the future of their engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage mechanical design projects from concept through to completion, ensuring high standards of design, quality, and efficiency.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of a team of engineers and designers, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
  • Develop detailed mechanical designs, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with design specifications.
  • Participate in project meetings, presenting design solutions and progress updates to clients and senior management.
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals, contributing to the growth and success of the business.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our design processes and solutions.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) is preferred but not essential
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on commercial, data centre, industrial, and residential projects
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of relevant design standards, codes, and regulations
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
