Job Title: Data Centre Capital Portfolio Manager
Hybrid working with the expectation that Data Centre Capital Portfolio Manager would spend 2-3 days per week at a the Data Centre or their office locations.
As a UK role an element of travel to other DC sites/locations will be required.

Our target is to be the leading CSP in the UK providing secure and resilient digital infrastructure. Our operations run 24/7 and the Data Centre teams are central and foundational to our service provision.
Hours of work are core office hours.
Our client provides a number of services to clients from the 13 owned Data Centres in the UK. The Data Centre Capital Portfolio Manager is ultimately accountable for building the Data Centre Capital plans and managing the execution of the capital programme to realise the benefits expected.

Our client has 13 Data Centres in the UK. Sites are either fully owned or on long term lease. The Data Centre sites require ongoing multi-million pound capital investment each year to-:

Upgrade/replace aged Data Centre infrastructure.
Provide additional Data Centre capacity; The Data Centre Capital Portfolio Manager is responsible for designing and managing this Data Centre Capital Programme.

This role involves ownership of a portfolio of projects through the end-to-end project lifecycle management from business case to benefits realisation.

For Management Roles:

The DC team is based across various locations throughout the UK with responsibility for supporting
groupwide Data Centre locations.
The manager will, however, be responsible for selecting and managing third parties who will be delivering (Design to Execution) the Data Centre Capital spend.

Commercial/Budget Responsibility:
Responsibility for Data Centre capital spend
(individual projects.

Data Centre Capital Programme
Work with the Data Centre teams to understand Data Centre infrastructure assessment to identify investment needs.
Align Data Centre Capital plan to meet the Data Centre Environmental Strategy.
Align Data Centre site/location strategy to Data Centre Capital Plans – replacement v expansion Capital spend.
Build and maintain rolling 5-year Data Centre Capital Plans.
Responsible for creation of Data Centre Capital Business Cases with clear options appraisal conducted to verify recommendation with data.
Responsible for the execution of Data Centre capital projects to time/quality & cost.
Conduct post project benefits review of Data Centre capital projects.

Data Centre Capital Project Delivery
Ensure Data Centre Capital projects execute to the highest level of safety.
Work with the Head of Procurement to select Data Centre Capital delivery partners.
Build the Data Centre Capital Project Delivery standards and framework.
Manage Data Centre Capital Project Governance.
Maintain highest level of Data Centre security through Capital Project delivery.
Identify and manage Data Centre Capital project risks.
Plan, resource, and implement Data Centre Capital Projects ensuring they are delivered on time and on budget and without any unplanned service interruption consistent with Change Management practices.
Ensure the Data Centre Capital Projects maintain/enhance Data Centre documentation e.g. M&E build drawings, asset management.
Ensure Data Centre Capital Projects meet industry recognised good
Measure expected Data Centre Capital Project benefits achieved v planned in the business case.
Drive continuous improvement through open lessons learned process post projects.

Manage A High Performing Data Centre Capital Projects Team/Partners
Continuously search the market to identify Data Centre Capital Delivery partners.
Build contract models with Data Centre Capital Delivery partners.
Select, develop and direct Data Centre partners acting as a role model on our values and leadership framework.

Data Centre Capital Spend Financial Management
Ensuring value for money in Data Centre Capital Spend.
Responsible for building and working to agreed Data Centre budgets: Work within agreed budgets as required, making responsible use of assets.
Lead service meetings with key Data Centre Capital partners.

Own and manage key external relationships with Data Centre Capital partners.
Facilitate internal relationships and discussions to manage the Data Centre Capital Program.
Ensure communication with clients as part of the our client’s Change Management processes.
Formal reporting to line manager as required with appropriate management information provided.

Be a motivational leader with the ability to inspire people with a vision for the Data Centre Capital projects allowing partners to shape their project plan (rather than simply providing tasks that need to be completed).
Be organised and have excellent time management skills.
Have a good understanding of service management principles (ITIL)
Have a good understanding of change management concepts.
Good understanding of Data Centredesign and infrastructure.
Good experience of Capital business case development in a Data Centre environment.
Technical Management Skills
The purpose of this role is to manage Data Centre Capital teams/partners who will be designing, developing, and executing the Data Centre Capital Projects.

The Data Centre Capital Portfolio Manager is required to have enough knowledge and experience to understand the critical foundation elements of Data Centre Infrastructure.

This includes performing technical options appraisal for new Data Centre Capital projects working with partners and specialist contractors.

Commercial acumen is also important to work with their procurement and finance teams to build detailed business cases.

Requirement - degree educated in a related field.
Requirement - 5 years minimum experience leading Data Centre Capital projects in a similar scale and high availability environment.
Requirement – Certified Data Centre Design Professional (CDCDP)
Desirable – Certified Data Centre Energy Professional (CDCEP)
Desirable – ITIL V3
