The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with other geoscientists to ensure optimum evaluation of development acreage, providing petrophysical input to operated block evaluations. The candidate will have abroad range of technical responsibilities, including logging program design, logging operations supervision and monitoring petrophysical interpretation.

Perenco is looking for individuals able to thrive in an environment with substantial autonomy and can develop the role that encompasses both active team leadership and in-depth technical analysis. He/she will have considerable freedom to act. The position will be based in London but may entail some overseas travel.

Tasks & Responsibilities

In liaison with Subsidiary and Main Office Geologists:

  • Design logging program (both wireline and LWD/MWD)
  • Design wireline formation testing and sampling
  • Supervise and monitor logging operations
  • Carry out log interpretation open and cased hole
  • Work with geologists and reservoir engineers on core analysis program (CCAL and SCAL)
  • Assist the call for tenders and wireline contracts
  • Participate in field studies, reviewing existing well log data, fluid contacts, and generate log interpretations contributing to the integrated study report and generating the petrophysical section.
  • Act as a substitute for other petrophysicists within the company including travelling in their stead to a subsidiary, when required, e.g absences, high workload.

Qualifications/ Experience / Specification

Essential:

  • Minimum 8 year’s proven experience in Petrophysics
  • Field experience as a logging engineer
  • Experience both in exploration and development wells, including deviated wells
  • Expertise in pore pressure evaluation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of: Heavy oil development, Unconsolidated Formations, Production Logging, Well Testing, Logging operations

Desirable:

  • IP log interpretation software

  • Willingness to get involved and participate in all menial tasks.
  • Flexibility in working hours to aid drilling activities across the world.
  • Highly motivated with excellent communication skills.
  • Capable of delivering quality projects within a tight deadline.
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of French is a plus.
