Our client is a Refurbishment and fit out specialist, rapidly growing Contractor. They are looking for a Head of Health & Safety to join the team and help the company grow with them.

Lead the Health & Safety team, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and development opportunities.
Promote a proactive health and safety culture across the organisation.
Ensure compliance with all applicable UK health and safety regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM Regulations 2015, Building Safety Act 2022, and other relevant legislation.
Keep abreast of legislative changes and ensure timely implementation of necessary adjustments.
Ensure Collins adheres to ISO 45001 standards for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ISO 45001 standards.
In collaboration with the Quality Assurance and Environmental Management teams, coordinate internal and external audits related to ISO 45001 and ensure timely resolution of any non-conformities.
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular reviews and updates to policies to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement.
Conduct discipline/task-specific risk assessments and ensure that safe working practices are in place.
Develop and implement strategies to minimise workplace hazards and risks.
Represent Collins as the competent person in Health & Safety through claims management and litigation procedures, coordinating and collaborating with Collins insurers and legal team.
Design and deliver health and safety related training programmes for employees and supply chain personnel at all levels.
Review and advise on the capabilities and competencies of subcontractors and suppliers through the supply chain onboarding process.
Ensure all staff receive appropriate health and safety inductions and ongoing training.
Oversee the planning and delivery of regular health and safety audits and site inspections.
Monitor compliance and performance to all standards and expectations, producing detailed reports and recommendations for improvement.
Liaise with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and other stakeholders.
Represent Collins in health and safety matters at industry forums and events.
Develop and maintain health and safety performance metrics.
Report on health and safety performance to the board and senior management team.
PROJECTS & CONSTRUCTION

When Collins is appointed as Principal Contractor, ensure projects are set up and operate in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
Ensure the monitoring of each project in compliance with the Considerate Constructor’s Scheme.
Coordinate with the Head of Quality Assurance and Head of Sustainability to ensure a cohesive Compliance strategy for every project.
Monitor and advise on site fire plans with project managers and ensure that correct emergency and evacuation procedures are in place.
Ensure that where appointed as Principal Contractor (or Contractor) all relevant information required for inclusion within the Project Health and Safety File is promptly provided to the principal designer or Principal Contractor.
Be the H&S point of contact for Projects Directors and Project Managers regarding risks the projects are exposed to. Take responsibility for ensuring all risks are eliminated or safe systems of work are in place.
Carry out trend analysis on incidents across all projects and produce evidence-based recommendations for improvements.
Prepare monthly health & safety summary reports and present findings to Compliance Director.
Assist with inductions, training and toolbox talks to all levels of site personnel, making sure all are aware of their responsibilities and Collins safe working practices.
Liaise with Project Managers and Site Managers regarding the continued development of the Construction Phase Safety Plan as the specific project progresses.
Assist the site management team in resolving potentially high-risk safety issues and activities.
Attend specific project meetings and events as and when required.
Assist with the external promotion of the company.
Comply with Collins quality procedures.
At all times consider environmental issues, ensuring the companies’ environmental policy and procedures are adhered to and that everything is done to reduce emissions. Look to recycle products from projects where possible and practical.
Ensure you have the required training certificates to carry out the role.
Adhere to the company's Code of Conduct, which mandates professional behaviour, respect, safety compliance, confidentiality, responsible conduct at company events, and adherence to substance abuse policies.
