They help clients develop Health and Safety Management Systems, Policies, Procedures, and Safe Systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. The company offers consultation, training courses, and site monitoring to achieve health and safety objectives.

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Health and Safety Consultant at The Safety Department. The Consultant will be responsible for assisting the company to carry out its role as CDM Principal Designer. This will involve managing the health and safety aspects in the pre construction phase of multiple projects, so good coordination, organisation, IT skills will be a must.

The role includes arranging meetings, issuing notifications, advising construction clients and architects, gathering and preparing pre-construction information, carrying out design reviews and assisting with the development of design risk registers, conducting competence assessments and assisting construction companies with pre qualification questionnaires and SSIP accreditations, reviewing projects, carrying out inspections and developing residual risk registers and health and safety files at the end of the projects.

Projects range from fast moving shop fitting to major hospital and data centre projects as well as some residential.

Candidates will be expected to have an in-depth working knowledge of the construction (Design and management) regulations 2015 (CDM) and a NEBOSH H&S qualification or equivalent. However full training on the CDM process and role of the principal designer and clients cdm advisor will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Health & Safety, Occupational Health, and Environment Health and Safety (EHS) expertise
  • NEBOSH certification
  • Membership of IOSH, IIRSM, APS would be beneficial
  • Training skills

  • Ability to conduct risk assessments
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
