Assistant Head Sommelier

to join our distinguished team. Renowned for unparalleled cuisine and curated wine offerings, Pollen Street Social invites a seasoned professional to contribute to the management of our esteemed wine program, ensuring an elevated dining experience for our discerning guests. Candidates selected for this role will receive training at Pollen Street Social, with the opportunity for a seamless transition to a new site in central London, reflecting the Company's expansion efforts. Responsibilities Work in close partnership with the Head Sommelier, waitstaff, and kitchen team, ensuring impeccable coordination during service and events. Actively engage in researching and evaluating wines, staying abreast of industry trends, and discovering unique selections to enhance our curated collection. Elevate guest experiences by providing expert wine recommendations and sharing insightful knowledge about varietals, vintages, and pairings. Provide crucial support in maintaining the wine cellar's inventory, ensuring meticulous organization, and optimal storage conditions. Participate in monitoring and managing wine stock levels, contributing to procurement and replenishment efforts as needed. Demonstrate mastery in wine service, including refined decanting and presentation techniques, to enhance the overall guest experience. Play a key role in training and mentoring junior staff, imparting wine service techniques and etiquette to maintain exceptional service standards. Assist in implementing effective inventory management and loss prevention measures to maintain control over beverage costs. Qualifications Hold a recognised sommelier certification showcasing profound knowledge of wines and wine service. Bring a minimum of three years of experience in a high-end restaurant or luxury hotel, with a robust background in wine selection, wine service, and cellar management. Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills, adept at conveying intricate wine information to both guests and colleagues. Possess an authentic passion for wine and a steadfast commitment to continuous learning in the dynamic world of oenology.
