Grounds Person

Join our dedicated Grounds Team at St Mary’s University, where you’ll help maintain and enhance our beautiful campus and high-performance sports facilities. This hands-on role includes maintaining natural and artificial sports surfaces, landscaping, waste and recycling operations, and keeping our outdoor spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. You’ll operate a range of modern grounds machinery, work both independently and as part of a supportive team, and contribute to key tasks such as mowing, line marking, repairs, planting, artificial surface inspections, and seasonal maintenance. Flexibility is required as part of a 5-in-7 rota supporting the University’s year-round activity. We are looking for a motivated and dependable Grounds Person who takes pride in delivering high-quality outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will have experience working outdoors, preferably within grounds care, and a good understanding of basic health and safety practices. You will be comfortable operating grounds equipment, completing practical tasks to a high standard, and working both independently and as part of a supportive team. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn are essential, along with a genuine interest in developing a career in grounds and sports turf management. A full UK driving licence is required.
