Job Title: Senior Land Manager

About Us

A renewable development and delivery business with a team of 22, we focus on identifying and developing suitable renewable energy projects. We handle the entire process, from securing grid connections and land agreements to navigating planning procedures for successful project completion.

After development, projects are delivered by our in-house team and operated long-term. Initially focused on the UK, with a 6GW pipeline in solar, wind, and battery sectors, we have since expanded into the Nordic region, establishing development teams in Sweden and Finland.

Role and Responsibilities

This role involves leading a growing team in Glasgow to secure land agreements for the development and delivery of renewable energy projects, primarily in wind, solar, and storage.

Key responsibilities include identifying and engaging with landowners, conducting feasibility assessments, negotiating Heads of Terms, and overseeing the preparation and registration of land agreements, such as leases and wayleaves.

The role also requires mentoring and managing junior team members, leading the internal land function, managing networks of land agents and legal support, and collaborating with planning and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong network, a drive to succeed, and the ability to work independently while offering innovative solutions.

Key skills and Experience

  • Degree-level qualification in Land, Legal, or Planning fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in renewable energy project management, focusing on solar PV, battery storage, and onshore wind projects.
  • RICS certification.
  • Proven experience in land assembly and overseeing land budgets.
  • Skilled in managing agents and legal teams to draft and finalize land agreements.
  • Strong understanding of planning and consent processes.
  • Expertise in contract preparation and leading tender negotiations, including consultancy services.
  • Experience in managing project stakeholders, such as regulators, statutory consultees, and local communities.
  • Competence in managing project teams and budgets.
  • Ability to translate technical information into commercial insights.
  • Strong multitasking and project workload prioritization skills.
