We have an exciting opportunity to join Refresco UK as our Head of ESG (interim position), to carry on the great work already set in motion as our current Head of ESG goes on maternity leave.

As Head of ESG for the 12-month FTC, you will continue to deliver on the six pillars of our ESG Strategy:

  • Creating a safe and great place to work
  • Reducing carbon emissions in our own operations and supply chains
  • Water protection & efficiency
  • Reducing waste
  • Promoting responsible business practices along the value chain

You will ensure our ESG reporting is completed as well as monitoring and ensuring compliance with Legislation and regulation.

Engaging and liaising with multiple stakeholders, you will maintain the relationships with our Retail and Co-Man customer base, as well as engaging and communicating with our internal teams to drive the agenda even further.

Full Job description

  • Reporting – Responsibility for completing and submitting all ESG reporting requirements, including carbon reporting, Manufacture 2030, Extended Producer Responsibility, CDP, Ecovadis, SECR, TCFD, food waste reporting, packaging submissions and specific retail and co-man customer reporting requirements
  • Legislation and regulation – Responsibility for continued legislation monitoring and compliance, ensuring communication to the business around key dates, risks and requirements, clear roadmaps for implementation of key legislative and regulatory projects (including, but not limited to Extended Producer Responsibility, Deposit Return Scheme, Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive, Windsor Framework). Chairing of monthly internal Regulatory Affairs group and attending external industry groups, such as the British Soft Drinks Association Corporate Affairs Group
  • ESG strategy - Maintain ownership of Refresco’s ESG strategy, ensuring pillar leads are driving forward actions, updating deliverables and milestones when relevant and leading on some pillars
  • Carbon reduction roadmaps – Work with the Group Head of ESG and Group Procurement on the Group SBTi target and scope-3 reduction roadmaps and supplier engagement. Work with retailers on the Mondra tool for product carbon footprints. Work with internal teams on prioritisation and implementation of scope 1 and 2 reduction roadmaps
  • Retailer and co-manufacturing customer engagement – Ensure the business understands the ESG needs of our major customers, update our retail and co-man customers on progress against priorities at customer meetings, maintain engagement with key external stakeholders and complete all retailer data requests
  • Comms & Engagement – Working with the Head of Communication on ensuring at least four ESG comms moments throughout the year, monthly updates to the wider business as part of Monthly Townhalls and monthly updates to the Leadership Teams. Participation in Industry Groups and external conferences / webinars, bringing learnings into Refresco and sharing with relevant stakeholders
