As we continue to grow, we are looking for a highly motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our team and help us shape the future of data infrastructure at Pets Choice

About the Role:

  • As the Senior Data Engineer you will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining scalable, high-performance data infrastructure and pipelines that enable us to manage and analyse vast amounts of data effectively.
  • Build and maintain cloud data warehouse/data infrastructure.
  • Implement ETL procedures.
  • Automate and optimise processes.
  • Understand and connect data sources and present data in an easy to read format to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot issues with data integrity and report these findings across all areas of the business.
  • Applying advanced level calculations on the data set.
  • Train users and stakeholders on how to use the information.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies, trends and best practices in data engineering.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Python and SQL is essential
  • Understanding and experience of building a Cloud Data Warehouse
  • Experience of cloud platforms such as Azure
  • Use of ETL tools
  • Data modelling
  • Synapse
  • Databricks
  • Power BI
  • Experience gained from a manufacturing background, ideally FMCG
  • The ability to build strong relationships and to engage, negotiate, influence and collaborate across the organisation.
  • Ability to explain data and technical concepts to non-technical teams

Pets Choice offers hybrid working for office roles, working 3 days at our office in Blackburn and 2 days at home. We believe more time working together in the office helps us to collaborate, learn, have continual conversations, be more creative and better support each other. By doing this we are more successful, build stronger relationships and we can open up more opportunities which helps us all grow.
