This role is responsible for our Environmental Health and Safety responsibilities for OrganOx ltd . These responsibilities extend to the premises located at Oxford, all Employees working on site and at home, and all contractors and visitors when on site at Oxford.

Due to the nature of this role the hours of work will be Monday to Friday 0900 to 1730

The EHS Manager is responsible for Championing environmental health and safety requirements and ensuring that all facilities and working practices meet the required environmental health and safety requirements and government legislation. This includes risk assessment management, risk reduction action execution, workplace auditing and promoting and embedding a good health and safety culture.

Responsibility for environmental health and safety throughout the building to ensure that health and safety policies and documents are up to date, including recording of incidents relating to all areas of work.

Responsible for risk assessments in the office and lab environments, with any recommendations to be reported to, and followed up with, the Senior Leadership Team. In liaison with HR Lead, ensure all staff receive appropriate health, safety & wellbeing training, including induction training for new employees.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Keeping up to date all EHS documentation using the company’s eDMS
  • Risk assessments.
  • Policies
  • Safe systems of work
  • CoSHH/BioCoSHH
  • Ensure that staff receive and undertake all annual mandatory training and training on the risk they are exposed to in their role.
  • Oversee the running of the EHS Committee and assist with the ESG Committee
  • Carry out routine inspections of all areas, report findings and implement actions.
  • Work with HR and Occupational Health on Employee Workplace risks assessment when required.
  • On boarding EHS induction for new staff
  • Ensure Contractors and Visitors receive EHS inductions.
  • Preparing quarterly reports for the CEO and Board using leading and lagging KPI’s
  • Reporting monthly to the EHS Committee accidents, incidents, near hit learning experiences
  • Training of Line Managers and their responsibilities regarding EHS of their reports
  • Toolbox talks for First Aiders and Mental Health First Aiders to keep their skills current.
  • Ensure all related external EHS licences , audits and permits are applied for and kept up to date
  • Assist Facilities with compliance and routine monitoring on all aspect of safety including Fire , Legionella, Hazardous waste disposal, PPE management
  • Deputise for the Facilities role for annual leave and other absences.

Skills Required:

  • Have demonstratable EHS management background, preferably within an organisation with
  • experience of manufacturing, engineering research and development along with Clinical Laboratory environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills obtained from previous experience of working within a very busy
  • environment, ideally within a fast-moving growth organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH (or equivalent) accredited workplace safety certification
  • A recognized Technical Body membership for EHS
