The Financial Times is one of the world’s leading news organisations, globally recognised for its authority, integrity and accuracy, with a mission to deliver quality information and services worldwide.
Here, you’re given the chance to reach millions, create work that matters and deliver impartial journalism in a polarised world.
In our warm, collaborative culture, you’ll connect with a diverse community of experts who support your growth, career aspirations and wellbeing.
HTSI, the FT’s multi-award-winning luxury lifestyle magazine, is seeking a deputy chief sub editor to help shape our fully integrated print and digital content.
This is a rare chance to join a title known for its sharp journalism, imaginative storytelling and distinctive visual style — a place where design, fashion, interiors, travel and culture meet the authority of the Financial Times.
HTSI publishes 42 print issues a year and runs a vibrant digital presence across web and social. The successful applicant will have at least a few year’s subbing experience on a consumer magazine, having worked on both print and digital output.
Sensitive approach to copy, and dealing with writers
An aptitude for writing sophisticated display copy that is in tune with the magazine's readership, on and offline
A genius for the clickable online headline
The work will include some out-of-office hours responsibilities - at evenings and weekends - including managing, updating and publishing live stories
To deputise for the chief sub editor in their absence
A creative thinker who can come up with headlines and standfirsts that are smart and elegant in print, and particularly clickable online
Someone who can respect copy, and an editor’s choices
A flexible, responsive worker with strong leadership skills who can galvanise a team and adapt to change throughout the working day
Someone who enjoys HTSI’s content and is able to engage with it in a creative and thoughtful way
Please submit your application by the end of the day, Sunday December 14 2025.
Original reporting, great writing and intelligent commentary lie at the heart of FT journalism. Our readers trust us to produce quality journalism that is accurate, fair and insightful. This is why FT editorial staff do not by default use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to write articles or create other reader-facing content. For specific and pre-approved cases, AI can be harnessed for certain tasks, such as assisting data research for investigations.
We encourage candidates only to employ AI as a tool to help with research and interview readiness for a role.
Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
These include generous annual leave, medical cover, inclusive parental leave packages, subsidised gym memberships and opportunities to give back to the community. FT Newsroom staff are expected to work onsite a minimum of three days per week, subject to role requirements and regular review. While flexible working requests will be considered, not all patterns are suitable for Editorial roles.
We are a disability confident employer and Valuable 500 signatory.
If you would like to discuss your requirements or have any questions, email talent@ft.com and a member of our team will be happy to help.
