I am currently representing Kingston Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of £32.16 which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Principal Planner for the role located at: KT1 1EU.

The right candidate will:

  1. Support the operational needs and delivery outcomes of the Strategic Planning and Infrastructure team, which includes the functions of: Development Management, Planning Enforcement and Spatial Planning.
  2. The role can include all aspects of development management and spatial planning work including: planning applications; appeals; enforcement; area-based planning strategies; planning briefs; project work; the preparation and monitoring of the Local Development Framework, supplementary planning guidance and other policies; and helping the public take part in planning and support initiatives such as co-design.
  3. Deal with Major Applications - we now have a number of Major applications stacking up including Council schemes like the Kingfisher Leisure Centre, and Signal Park.
  4. Achieve challenging performance targets and objectives.
  5. Be responsible for the delivery of individual projects and work streams.
  6. Manage the work of other planners or project team members.
  7. Have budgetary responsibility for specific projects.
  8. Play a key role in the annual team planning process and achieving improvements in service delivery.
  9. Deputise for the Lead officer, Planning Policy.
  10. Hold Chartered membership or eligibility for chartered or associate membership of the RTPI.
