Progress Teachers are working to appoint a team of dedicated and experienced Student Support Mentors to support a local alternative therapeutic educational setting which caters for young people with ASC / SEMH. The successful candidates will provide strong pastoral and academic support to primary and/or secondary-aged pupils, both 1:1 and within the classroom, helping to have a positive impact on their academic and personal journeys. Responsibilities:
  • To support pupils in lessons and around the school grounds.
  • To support pupils with activities on and offsite.
  • To support teachers and instructors in the delivery of lessons and activities.
  • To be a part of promoting safeguarding and pupil welfare.
  • Managing and recording behaviour where appropriate.
  • Upkeep of the classroom environment including displays.
  • Liaising with tutors and family support.
  • Supporting behaviour management and student welfare – working 1:1 or in small groups when required.
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with challenging behaviours/complex needs in an educational, care, or judicial setting is positive. However, applicants with relevant experience from other sectors will also be considered.
  • An understanding of Autism and SEMH is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Empathy, patience, and a proactive approach to behaviour support.
  • Certification in behaviour intervention or related field is a plus.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service OR be willingness to obtain
