Our client, a leading manufacturing client based north of York, are looking to recruit a Technical Support Specialist to join the business on a permanent basis. This recruitment drive is due to expansion of the System Support division and improvement of support to equipment deployed globally. The successful candidate will be required to provide technical support solutions to end users, engineering, parts-sales and production as required. Candidates will ideally be qualified in an Electrical Discipline with knowledge of Mechanical Systems including but not limited to AC/DC systems, Hydraulics, Electrical Control Systems. Prior experience providing Technical support would be highly advantageous – experience with remote support systems would also be advantageous. Experience working with Oil and Gas/ Subsea systems would be advantageous. You will also have excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written) as you will be dealing with Engineers in the field and also end user clients to resolve technical issues. Hours Mon - Thurs (Apply online only) / Friday 08:30 - 1600 Candidates may also be required to travel internationally as part of this role ( up to 6 weeks per year) therefore a willingness to travel and Full UK Passport will be required – additional payments for mobilisation and traveling will apply OTE for this role is in the region of £50k Role Description

  • Provide technical support for in-service systems, collating customer-ready engineering responses to technical support enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Resolution of technical queries or oversee output of others who are working to resolve them
  • Where beneficial, recreate customer reported issues in-house to assist problem resolution.
  • Provide technical input during the quoting and tendering phase to understand customer requirements.
  • Be commercially aware when dealing with customer issues.
  • Log and review all customer and technical support enquiries using internal database.
  • Take lead and clearly document corrective action activities and exercises.
  • Provide technical insight into future product development.
  • Carry out system audits and follow-up visits to vessels and systems to obtain customer feedback.
  • To assist with system integration/FAT as required
  • To act as customer proxy for FAT as required (and where there is no conflict of interest).
Technical Competencies
  • Able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematic diagrams
  • Ability to write and present short technical reports and emails
  • Ability to consider and involve all engineering disciplines during decision making process
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical control systems
Qualifications/ Skills
  • Candidates will ideally be qualified in a Electrical discipline (NVQ/HNC/HND/ Degree).
  • Demonstrable experience working within a Technical Support role working with both Engineers and Customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel as required – UK Passport required.
