Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive – Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) serves a population of over 1 million people, living and working within a thousand square miles some of the most attractive landscapes. This includes, of course, parts of the Peak District National Park. The area is diverse though, with both rural and city areas, including rivers, farms, manufacturing sites, and an extensive road and rail network, all putting varied demands on our firefighters.

Following the impending retirement of our current Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive (CFO/CE), we are now seeking the very best to lead our Service, as we continuously improve, ensuring we are well trained and well equipped. An inspirational leader, you will empower our people to play their part to Make Derbyshire Safer Together, for all who live, work or visit the area.

We do not underestimate the challenges ahead, as these are difficult times for fire and rescue services nationally, with culture in particular under rightful scrutiny. We have clear expectations to create a progressive, positive and inclusive environment that supports and celebrates the diversity of our workforce; you will play a critical role in driving that change, not only for our people but for the communities of Derbyshire too.

To succeed as our next CFO/CE, you will be a trusted, inspirational leader; a role model, capable of delivering the very best climate and culture for all our people. We are ambitious and want to be at the forefront, as a modern Fire and Rescue Service. You will share this vision and have the skills, operationally and strategically, to deliver that vision.

Please note, candidates selected to progress to the final stages will need to attend our Headquarters in Ripley on both the 5th November and the 21st November 2024.
