Balfour Beatty Vinci has an exciting opportunity for a Section Engineer with Heavy Civils and Structure experience to join our team and work at our HS2 site in Central Birmingham. Role Purpose: To lead and control a section of major works within Major Structures, Viaducts, Heavy Civils, Excavations etc management of a team of Site Engineers.

  • Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests and implements improvements to systems
  • Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity, including managing others in this regard.
  • Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights.
  • Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility..
  • Ensure the Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check Sheets are completed as soon as the checks can be completed to ensure that the works are delivered to specification.
  • In association with the Section Foreman, assess the plant and resource requirements to meet the demands of site and office based works.
  • Produce / Approve method statements and risk assessments and ensure they are being followed throughout the works.
  • Carry out checks of the scheme during construction on site, liaising with the TWC and Site Team.
  • Preparing and issuing Temporary Works Briefs to the relevant design departments.
  • Ensure Site Engineers complete setting out in accordance with design.
  • Ensure Design Drawings are marked up to reflect works completed as the works are finished.
Who we're looking for:
  • Degree qualified in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable
  • Previous supervisory or management experience is essential
  • Experience working as a Sub Agent on a large civil engineering scheme
Desirables:
  • Network Rail experience
  • Self delivery experience
