The iconic Barbour Bedale and Barbour Beaufort wax jackets continue to be made by hand in the factory in South Shields. In 2020, Barbour launched Wax for Life, an overarching name for all of Barbour’s wax services designed to encourage customers to extend the life of their wax garments. Wax for Life includes re-waxing and repairs (first introduced in 1921) and Barbour Re-Loved an upcycling circularity initiative. Each year over 70,000 wax garments are sent back to Barbour globally to be repaired, rewaxed or altered.

Position Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a Global Ecommerce Trading Executive to join the Barbour team based at South Shields. You will have strong commercial awareness and proven ability to analyse figures and data. You will work closely with the Senior Global Ecommerce Trading Manager and broader ecommerce department to maximise global sales and trading operations within the Barbour framework of brands. This will include implementing a clear merchandising strategy, driven by core retail KPIs and trading analytics, coordinating the visual display of all brands and products and continuously evaluating the online customer journey. You have a keen eye for detail and will be meticulous in your approach and always have the highest of standards in mind in guaranteeing our products are always available, displayed in a premium way and regularly optimised through intelligent merchandising.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support Senior Global Ecommerce Trading Manager with global revenue forecast and reforecast each half of the year to continually challenge risks and mitigate with trading opportunities (across International websites).
  • Complete and manage the Global Ecomm Trade calendar, being sure to share updates where necessary with the wider business stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the ecommerce team on the global personalization strategy.
  • Work closely with digital agencies, ensuring all paid marketing activity (social, ppc, display) is commercially driven and accurate against the trade calendar.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with B&M, marketing and content teams to ensure productivity is maximised and everything is available for launches, ensuring all products and pricing is showing correctly.
  • Report on weekly KPIs- continually identify risks/ opportunities and offer recommendations to the business for improvement.
  • Support with assortment planning for ecommerce and agree plans with the wider business
  • Work with core B&M team to ensure digital is front of mind and influence in-season trading for assigned product areas by analysing trading patterns.
  • Lead monthly digital meetings with B&M giving insight into customer journey and ecommerce metrics.
  • Challenge distribution of stock to increase potential for incremental sales – free stock as a focus.
  • Display an in-depth, customer-focused knowledge of premium lifestyle market and buying trends, staying abreast of what is new in the world of ecommerce.
  • Ensure that the correct level of NPD is present while also pushing slow sell thru items.
  • Offer commercial view on all email and content output within the team.
  • Consistently challenging customer proposition, including delivery and returns options.
  • Customer Journey - work closely with Google Analytics to identify opportunities to maximise sales.
  • Understand where customers are dropping off and provide solutions to management.
  • Site Performance- aware of differences between international markets in terms of traffic and trading.
  • Analyse all site KPIS from a device and channel split standpoint and pinpoint trading opportunities for growth.
  • Constantly monitor site health, ensuring no critical bugs impact sales.
  • UAT testing on merchandising and trade specific roadmap releases.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of consumer e-commerce and areas of performance marketing
  • Technical understanding of ecommerce platforms on a Global level (Salesforce Commerce Cloud would be beneficial)
  • An understanding of a CRM system and analytics solution such as GA
  • Experience of understanding consumer experience in an Ecommerce environment
  • Solid grasp of retail merchandising principals and supporting metrics
