Working across the borough of Solihull, Community Podiatry are a small but dynamic team serving the population to help reduce the risk of complications that contribute to major limb amputation. This post is full time (37.5 hours) across 5 days in various locations such as Community Clinics, Patient's Home's as well as other UHB sites. You will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who are deemed at risk.

This post is suitable for new graduates, however, will commence at a band 5 level until band 6 competencies are completed.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning for new referrals and ongoing patients, ensuring that patient care pathways are followed, and episodes of care are implemented, to incorporate promoting the benefits of foot health, foot care advice and self- care. This involves providing education to (but not limited to) apprentices, students, nurses, GP practices.

Qualifications

Essential


  • *BSc(Hons) Podiatry
  • *Registered with HCPC
  • *POM-A & POM-S annotations including administration of Local Anaesthesia

Desirable


  • *Registration with College of Podiatry or IoCP
  • *CoP Diabetic/Vascular foot module

Experience

Essential


  • *Working within an NHS setting
  • *Experience of high risk patient groups
  • *Knowledge and application of code of conduct and scope in specialist professional practice as advised by professional body
  • *Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the importance of patient assessment and management, including care of high risk patients

Desirable


  • *Knowledge of current issues pertinent to podiatry
  • *Awareness of current legislative changes in the NHS

Additional Criteria

  • *Ability to demonstrate knowledge of biomechanics and use of chair-side orthoses
  • *Ability to demonstrate vascular and neurological assessment
  • *Ability to advise patients, relatives, carers on self-care and health promotion
  • *Ability to generate written communication which is accurate, relevant, concise and legible
  • *Awareness of the needs of ethnic minority patients and carers
  • *Good IT Skills
  • *Ability to demonstrate individual responsibility to health and safety
  • *Team working within podiatry and the wider community MDT
  • *Demonstrate an adaptable and flexible approach
  • *Self Motivated
  • *Ability to prioritise work loads
  • *To learn and apply knowledge appropriately
  • *Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • *To Travel around the Solihull Borough and across UHB sites including carrying equipment
  • *Ability to carry out domiciliary visits
