Knitwear Developer

Contract: Fixed Term (until July 2025)
Overview: The Knitwear Developer & Technologist works with the knitwear category across both the Production and Product Development departments, and is responsible for industrialising all VB knitwear product, in addition to providing technical development support within the knitwear team.
Supporting knitwear design & development team in technical fitting sessions, including but not limited to measuring prototypes and toiles for sample launches, recording fitting notes when required.
Work alongside the knitwear design & development team to provide support on sample launches, preparing technical instruction sheets and measurement specifications.
Collaborating with knitwear design & development team to maintain awareness of collections under development, contributing throughout the process with a solutions-based approach.
Working closely with the Knitwear & Jersey PD to discuss and resolve potential bulk production risks ahead of industrialisation of product.
Pre-Production / Production:
Maintain awareness at all times of the production and development critical path, managing workload and prioritising accordingly to ensure deadlines are respected.
Ensure seamless handover process and transition from development to pre-production and industrialisation of product, flagging any potential risks with production department.
Attending knitwear & jersey SMS production handover fitting, supporting in the garment fitting and documentation of fitting notes ahead of pre-production process.
Serve as a primary category contact for VB manufacturers during pre-production and production stages for fit, construction and quality within the knitwear & jersey category.
Fitting knitwear & jersey PPS alongside Technical Manager, ensuring the fit and finish of the garments adhere to the requested fit and production standards.
Completion of knitwear graded specification for bulk production, in accordance with VB grading and sizing standards.
Communicate detailed fit, quality and construction comments and requirements to suppliers.
Troubleshooting and risk assessment of knitwear product, working closely with manufacturers to resolve any concerns.
Ensure that VB quality and performance standards are understood, met and kept consistent across manufacturers and knitwear product.
Testing and performance assessment within the knitwear & jersey category as part of pre-production risk assessment process, documentation of findings and communicating potential concerns, demonstrating a proactive approach to resolving problems.
Ensure seasonal production critical path dates are respected and immediately flag delays, working closely with the production department.
Log daily progress in seasonal production critical path.
Liaise with Quality Controller to review and assess bulk production of knitwear & jersey product, ensuring final product adheres to technical specifications and is compliant with VB standards.
Pro-active approach to finding solutions for any concerns which may arise during quality control process, communicating these concerns efficiently with relevant teams when required.
Ownership and management of knitwear & jersey collection samples seasonally in the pre-production stages, overseeing sample movement between press & e-commerce departments, and to manufacturers.
Completion of seasonal e-commerce masterfile, providing accurate information and carefully written product description to be used for website copy.
Ensuring all knitwear & jersey product requested for seasonal e-commerce shoot is accounted for and prepared for shoot, liaising with e-commerce team to provide them with relevant information regarding samples. Ensuring final shoot images are accurately representative of bulk production, effectively communicating any concerns.
Reviewing product both online and in-store, investigating any sales feedback regarding knitwear & jersey product fit or performance.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience working within relevant field, in Knitwear Product Development or Garment Technology.
Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Knitwear Design / Garment Technology / Product Development or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent knowledge of knitwear manufacturing processes, materials and finishing.
Experience working with factories overseas and understanding of constraints and timescales, including sampling lead times.
IT skills: MS Office mandatory, experience using Microsoft Excel.
Fluent in English.
