Applications are invited from Constables for a vacancy for the post of Source Handlers within the West Midlands Police Dedicated Source Unit. The role is currently based near to Birmingham city centre, applicants will need to appreciate that they can be posted anywhere within the Force area and will be required to perform on call duties.
Applicants will need to have the highest levels of integrity, communication and report writing skills. An understanding of the intelligence process is fundamental to the role.
Applicants will be responsible for ensuring performance is in line with the Force priorities, whilst ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and the law.
Will be required to successfully attend and complete a nationally accredited training course in the Management and Use of Covert Human Intelligence Sources.
Will be required to successfully complete training in the CHIS database.
Must be willing to be vetted SC enhanced level in accordance with force policy
Will be required to perform on call duties via an on-call rota.
Experience of working in an intelligence/information field.
Knowledge of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and NPCC Guidance on the Management of Police Information (MOPI).
current legislation, policies and procedures (e.g. Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical:
Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
