Satellite Operations Engineer

About this role:

We are looking for an experienced, Satellite Operations Engineer to join a busy Engineering team, in a hybrid working role based in Glasgow (Scotland, UK) to support a diverse range of activities to deliver on our projects and missions.

Lead commissioning phases for new missions and oversee normal operations for existing ones, aligning with cost, quality, safety, and schedule goals. Contribute to mission-specific ground segment design, operation plans, and procedural improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks according to standards and compliance requirements.
  • Apply expertise for compliance adherence.
  • Manage satellite operations work packages per standards.
  • Lead planning, preparation, and execution of commissioning phases for new satellites.
  • Analyze data and troubleshoot in-orbit anomalies, collaborating with other engineering fields.
  • Ensure smooth operations for current missions and improve existing processes.
  • Support design of mission-specific ground segment systems for service and data delivery.
  • Create documentation and processes per regulations and licensing requirements.

Required Skills

  • Relevant degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Industry experience in a similar environment.
  • Basic understanding of satellites and space industry.
  • Proven ability to debug software issues.
  • Strong technical report and procedure writing skills.
  • Independent work and cross-cultural team collaboration.
  • Systems thinking for technical decisions.
  • Calmness under pressure, especially during live satellite communications.
  • Proficient in English (verbal and written).
