My client is a well-established and well-respected Main Contractor and have been for over 100 years. Operating from their Oxford Regional office they deliver design and build, new build and refurbishment projects up to £25m in value across most sectors including but not limited to; Education, Arts and Culture, NHS, Sports & Leisure, Commercial and MOD works. Contracts are split evenly between traditional and design & build, with a high proportion of their work (up to 60%) being won on a negotiated basis. They take pride in providing a quality product to their clients and also take pride on their high level of staff retention.

They consider themselves to have the professionalism of a PLC but the flexibility of a regional contractor. Due to their continued success and organic expansion plans they are looking to recruit an experienced Design Manager to join their Oxford team.

The Design Manager will manage the full whole life design process, overviewing and reporting on design programmes and providing technical support. Working closely with the Senior Design Manager, Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to manage all aspects of the design production

You will be leading the design on exciting projects across many different sectors up to the value of £25m in and around the Oxford region. Setting design deliverables, schedule drawings, specifications and other design information required for construction. Prepare design programmes, attend / chair design team meetings and issue actions.

Projects are typically within a 1-hour radius of Oxford; time will be split between working from site and working from home or office

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a successful track record in a Design Management role and have strong industry experience from either an architectural or project / construction management background, working for a main contractor on similar sized projects.
